| Miles was inspired to compose original music about eight years ago while dancing at a club. He liked what he heard in the club, but believed he could definitely write better music.
At the time his interest lay in disco-techy, deep house. After acquiring some simple digital and analogue hardware, he began to record loop and sample-based tunes. He also started to dabble in a little DJing at his friends' parties using two standard cd players and a basic mixer.
Five years ago he bought a computer and some audio software. He started to give demos of his original music to local DJs, along the way gathering a small vinyl collection and learning the basics of beat-mixing. After some success selling two of his tunes to Active 89FM’s compilation seriesm he was approached by very new Wellington label Capital Recordings - run by music retailer veteran Brent Gleave and local dj legend Jason Harding aka Clinton Smiley - to provide songs to two of their compilations. A year later Capital Recordings asked Miles, aka Audio Sauce, if he would like to release a full-length album. Thus Capital Recordings first album release Audio Sauce’s Diversecity is released in August 2002.
An album of nu-jazzed trip-hop beats and laidback house grooves it receives much critical acclaim. Following this, Miles secured a brief residency at a local bar. In 2003 Miles entered the Heineken dj/producer competition found@thirst and won the Wellington regional final - traveling to Auckland to compete against national finalists for a cash prize, and chance to play an opening slot for dj superstar Paul Oakenfold. Although Miles doesn't win, an impressed Mr. Oakenfold requested a copy of the Audio Sauce track on dubplate.
Miles also won a place in 2004’s year’s found@thirst regional final for the 2nd year running. Late 2003 Audio Sauce had his first vinyl release, an EP with songs from the forth-coming second album, featuring the vocals of Rebecca Riley aka Miss TYC. This was followed by the release of his second album in September titled "Contimental Drift". This album showcased a huge step forward for Audiosauce, and his mix of funk, soul, rhythm and jazz is championed by local and international DJs and producers. "Continental Drift" recieved a lot of airplay on both radio and television, and its songs were used for modern dance performances and for fashion show catwalks. Just recently the album has received two nominations for an upcoming radio station music awards. Miles currently lives in Wellington, New Zealand where he continues to write music, while occasionally djing at his favourite bars.
