Oblong

Keeping up with their diverse musical ethos, exceptional has signed new exciting West London producer Oblong.

Oblong is Patrick Kenmore, who has been keeping himself busy engineering and producing records for legendary acts such as Add N to X. His organic approach to songwriting, coupled with his studio skills led him to numerous other collaborations with Nathan Haines, Isaac Turner (Spektrum), Kaidi Tatham (Bugz in the Attic) and Simon Franks (Audio Bullies) among many others. His extensive musical knowledge and experience helped him amass a great network of musicians who pop in and out of his studio - including members of the legendary Blockheads, Bugz In The Attic, Yam Who and bass player Ian Rive (Mosquito), who's mixed many of the tracks from the upcoming Oblong album.

Oblong's knack of composing great songs brought him to the attention of exceptional who signed him for an album deal. Expect a collection of songs that follow the tradition of classic British pop bands such as The Christians, Blue Nile and the Pet Shop Boys, albeit with a modern electronic edge.

Current single Playing On My Mind featuring Adam Parker on vocals will be followed by the Oblong album scheduled for early September release. The album is already finished - which is good news as Oblong has just been asked to remix Spektrum, and is also busy with his release under the name of Rain People, his collaborative effort with Aaron Ross and Kaidi Tatham.
